Protecting Your Computer Privacy
If you own a computer you have had contact with hackers. The experts say that's
reality.
Author Eric Gertler is in the Bay Area today passing
along some troubling information.
Eric Gertler, author, Prying Eyes: "What people
forget is that when you are online everything you do is being tracked and
monitored."
Eric's book, Prying Eyes, is about identity
theft. He says online snooping is out of control.
Gertler: "The average computer gets scanned or hacked
10 times a day. most of these hackers are looking for trade secrets from
companies the bottom line is if you don't have a firewall, if you aren't
protecting your computer, you are exposing yourself to being hacked."
It wasn't long ago that that most of our personal private
information could be found right here in our wallets. Now that same information
and even more is stored on our computer. So ask yourself this: would you
leave your wallet sitting out on your desk at work?
Gertler: "In the same way you wouldn't allow your wallet
to be sitting around and in the same way you lock your door. You've got to
do the same with your computer. when you walk away, log off. Don't give people
easy access to your computer."
